Are You Using Too Much Detergent?

Have you ever wondered if you are using the right amount of laundry detergent?  Does it really matter?  Yes, it does matter!  it is important to measure and use the right amount of laundry soap in your washing machine.  Too much laundry detergent can actually harm fabrics and leave unnecessary residue on your garments and linens.

Whether you are using a liquid detergent or a powder detergent you only need about a tablespoon of detergent for a regular size load.  Don’t feel you need to overcompensate for heavy stains by using more laundry detergent.  Many of us do it, but it is not effective.  High efficiency washing machines tend to require even less detergent as they use less water.

So, next time you go to place a load of laundry in the washing machine, remember the general rule of one tablespoon for a regular size load and never more than two tablespoons for large and extra large loads.
