Ugh!!! Lipstick stains on clothing!! We are here to help with some tips to help you get rid of lipstick stains.
- Check Care Labels – It is important to check care labels before treating your stain. Trust the label. If your garment requires dry cleaning, take it to your local dry cleaner.
- Act Promptly – The sooner you address the stain, the better your chances of successfully removing. You want to prevent the lipstick from setting in the garment.
- Remove The Excess – Gently scrape off any excess lipstick using a blunt knife or spoon. Be careful not to spread the stain further.
- Pretreat With Dish Soap – Apply a small amount of dish soap directly to the stain. Work it in to the fabric with a white cloth. White helps prevent transfer of color to your garment. Dish soap will help to break down the oils in lipstick.
- Apply Rubbing Alcohol – If your stain remains, dab with a clean white cloth or cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol onto the stain. Pat the area. Do not rub. You want to avoid spreading the lipstick and potentially damaging the garment.
- Rinse With Cold Water – Rinse the garment with cold water.
- Launder as Usual – Wash the garment as you normally would, following the care instructions. Check the stain before drying to ensure removed.
A lipstick stain is not the end of the world! Take your time and follow these guidelines and your garment should be back to clean in no time.
