Let’s Talk Slip Covers, Cushion Covers, and Pillow Covers

As company arrives for the holidays, if your home is like many, every seat in the house is taken both indoors and out. Whether slip, cushion or pillow, our covers get dirty. Similar to garments they are expected to withstand wine, makeup and various food stains. Hopefully, we have caught you before you decided to pull off the covers and give them a good washing.

Washing covers can be tricky. The thought immediately takes one to the patio cushion covers that were tossed in the washing machine only to come out a size too small. Let us help you prevent this experience when trying to clean your various covers.

The first rule of thumb is check your care label. If the care label indicates dry clean only. Please trust the care label. As a general rule, we also recommend dry cleaning patio and furniture cushion covers. With over 75 years of experience, we have seen too many unexpected outcomes when it comes to cleaning cushion covers. Mainly, shrinkage.

If your care label supports and you feel confident in wet washing your covers, this can be managed quite easily at home.
1) Pretreat spots and stains.
2) Use cool water and the gentle cycle.
3) Lay flat to dry on a drying rack or table.
